  • Human Nutrition Research (HNR), Cambridge, UK: Location of MRC funded Human Nutrition Research unit.
  • Keneba Fieldstation, The Gambia: The main base for the unit’s ongoing research activities is in Keneba, West Kiang, on the South bank of the River Gambia, 96 miles inland (up country).
  • Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: Dr Sharon Cox. Location of a Wellcome Trust funded project ‘Development of a ready-to-use nutraceutical food for patients with sickle cell disease (SCD): testing of vasular support components.’
  • Sukuta Health Centre, The Gambia: Dr Suzanna McDonald. Location of a two year, WHO funded project ‘A randomized controlled trial in human neonates to determine the effect of vitamin A supplementation on innate and adaptive immune responses.’
  • Kenya: Dr Hans Verhoef. Location of a EU funded project ‘Novel staple food-based strategies to improve micronutrient status for better health and development in sub-Saharan Africa (INSTAPA).’
